Roland Santana is a Chicago based artist whose artwork is driven by exploration and invention. Using an abstract language the surfaces of his paintings involve mixing of opposing chemicals, colors and materials. He embraces the mystery and uniqueness that each individual work has, evoking sensory experiences and scenes of dreamlike worlds.

In his words, “I paint to elicit a feeling, and believe each painting requires a moment of epiphany. Art-making for me is rooted in process and discovery. How the marks are made and the excavation that led me to that moment are my focus. I want to live in the mystery that these works have, changing in everyday’s new light.”
